Commercial LED lighting company Earlsmann was recently asked by Kent-based installer MK Electrical Contractors to help design new lighting for the Maidstone Gateway local authority building as part of a wider refurbishment project.

Following several successful projects together, MK approached Earlsmann for help when it was challenged by its client to provide more cost-effective led lighting proposals for the Maidstone Gateway upgrade project. Earlsmann reviewed the end client’s requirements and modelled the entire project using Relux software. The resulting solution ensured all areas achieved light levels that met CIBSE guidelines (including for emergency lighting).

Combining different LED light sources to achieve required light levels

Following approval of the design, Earlsmann supplied a combination of LED panels, downlights, and controls to suit all areas of the building. Spaces ranged from large open-plan areas to smaller offices and meeting rooms. The solution included dimming and motion sensors within offices and meeting rooms to save energy when these facilities are not in use.

Once on site, MK’s installers discovered that the original plans needed to be changed to align with updated client requirements. Earlsmann worked collaboratively with MK to provide additional fittings as required, ensuring the job was completed on time and within budget.
