There are many ways to install Light Tape,
depending upon the application; for indoor installation, the simplest way is often to use
self-adhesive foam tape or Velcro. For outdoors, the tape must be allowed to expand
and contract as the temperature changes, so we recommend a mounting extrusion is used (see
below).
Light Tape resonates at the switching
frequency of the power supply, which can cause an audible buzz. Suitable mounting
methods should be used to eliminate this noise if it going to be obtrusive.
Interiors:
Foam Tape:
We can supply 1mm thick foam tape, with adhesive both sides. This
will both stick the tape in place, and deaden the resonance. We have white tape for
fixing on the back of the Light Tape, or clear if you wish to fix from the front.
Velcro:
For installations where the tape may have to be removed, we can supply
hook and loop Velcro strips. This also quietens the resonance.
Extrusion:
We can supply lightweight clear PETG extrusion (in 1m lengths), designed
to mount 1" Light Tape.
Exteriors:
Extrusion:
We offer four sizes of Polycarbonate extrusion, to suit 1/4",
1/2", 1" and 2" Light Tape, which hold the tape in place and offer
mechanical and environmental protection. Each has appropriate mounting clips
for holding it in place.
